During the fifth World Media Summit held in Guangzhou and Kunming, representatives from developing countries emphasized the importance of giving the Global South a stronger and more prominent voice in global media.

They stressed that:
– In an increasingly interconnected world, the media has a responsibility to promote global common development through collaboration and exchange.

– Media outlets from developing nations are urged to provide objective and responsible reporting to amplify the voices of these countries and address the challenges they face collectively.

– The role of media extends beyond conveying facts; it should also drive social-economic change and development.

– Cooperation among media is seen as crucial for ensuring that the voices of developing countries are heard on a global scale and for fostering diverse and inclusive narratives.

– Creating a shared narrative promoting common prosperity is imperative, and communication between developing countries is fundamental for building relations and fostering peace and understanding in the international system.

The summit served as a platform for practical cooperation agreements to materialize, with the hope that media organizations would conclude the summit with tangible cooperation to share resources, technology, and information. By working together, media outlets from developing nations can amplify the voices of their countries, address the challenges they face collectively, and contribute to a more inclusive and prosperous global media landscape.
